St Ninians bay

St Ninians bay, originally uploaded by Peter Ribbeck.

"This was taken on an outing to the Isle of Bute with my family it was not really meant to be a serious photo shoot as most of the shots were taken in the middle of the day with my family in tow but after saying that I got some photos that I am very happy with.

vales of rain were coming across from the west but the sun was still shinning bright above."

Staircases, originally uploaded by J. van de Pas.

"in the Glasgow City Chambers.

The City Chambers in Glasgow, Scotland has functioned as the headquarters of Glasgow City Council since 1996, and of preceding forms of civic government in the city since 1889, located on the eastern side of the city's George Square. The building was constructed between 1882 and 1888 by the architect William Young and is an eminent example of Victorian civic architecture. Inaugurated in August 1888 by Queen Victoria, the first council meeting was held within the buildings in October 1889. The building originally had an area of 5016 square metres. In 1923, an extension to the east side of the building in John Street was opened and in 1984 Exchange House in George Street was completed, increasing the size of the City Chambers complex to some 14,000 square metres.

Pillars of marble and granite give way to staircases of Carrera marble, freestone, and alabaster, and a ceiling decorated in gold leaf is topped by a stained glass dome.

Pennan - Banffshire

Pennan - Banffshire, originally uploaded by Sgian Dubh Qajaq.

"Made famous in the excellent 1983 film Local Hero, Pennan nestles into steep loosely conglomerate cliffs, a single street fishing village with washing lines at the edge of the ocean & creels lazing in the sun by harbour walls. The wee Pennan Inn is open again, tae fill ye' up.

The village is home also to arguably the most famous red telephone box in Scotland, although, I won't fully destroy the myth, BT have tracked incoming calls from New Zealand & America to it...sometimes at 2am, much to the humorous annoyance of the local residents. o-:)

Heathfield Farm Ruins at Dawn, originally uploaded by Wytchwood.

"In case you're looking for them, the farm ruins are behind the camera. Sorry about that. I went up the hills North of Lochwinnoch at dawn to capture the light on a ruined farm steading but just could not get a good composition. So turned around and took a shot of the pretty, misty dawn instead. Life is so unexpected...."
