Pennan - Banffshire

Pennan - Banffshire, originally uploaded by Sgian Dubh Qajaq.

"Made famous in the excellent 1983 film Local Hero, Pennan nestles into steep loosely conglomerate cliffs, a single street fishing village with washing lines at the edge of the ocean & creels lazing in the sun by harbour walls. The wee Pennan Inn is open again, tae fill ye' up.

The village is home also to arguably the most famous red telephone box in Scotland, although, I won't fully destroy the myth, BT have tracked incoming calls from New Zealand & America to it...sometimes at 2am, much to the humorous annoyance of the local residents. o-:)

Townsman: Are you sure there are two L's in dollar, Gideon?
Gideon: Aye...
Townsman: Are you certain?...
Gideon: Aye... And are there two G's in bugger off!"
