"Looking down towards The Hall of Clestrain - with the islands of Graemsay and Hoy (with the hills) in the distance. In the middle-distance is the West end of Scapa Flow.
The Hall of Clestrain was the birthplace of Orkney's Arctic Explorer Dr. John Rae who deserves much more recognition than he received - alive or dead. There is more about John Rae at .... www.orkneyjar.com/history/historicalfigures/johnrae/"

"I would like to say thank you to the people who view my Caithness images, and who continue to comment despite little feedback from me, it's been a long year, a project I started in March is still note quite completed, but with luck and a following wind will be by the end of the year allowing me to be a bit more responsive next year!

"I waded out into the flood to a point where my boots filled to get beyond the conopy of the trees above me.
I already knew that this was going to work as a panoramic shot but had to filter from beneath as well as above to pull more detail out of the strip of land through the centre. Luckily no one was around to hear me swearing as I thrashed my way back and forwards through the water to my pack sitting on a rock some 30 feet away while I applied the necessary filters, cable release and film holder to my camera before the cloud moved away."

"Mid-winter on the Strathaird peninsula, Skye. The shaded southern side of Strath Suardal (Scots Gaelic: Srath Suardal) remains heavily frosted, while to the west the lower slopes of Beinn Dearg Bheag are illuminated by the mid-day sun.
The pile of rocks in the foreground is one of several hereabouts. It may well be that these are the remains of 19th-century crofts. Certainly the forced evictions that took place in nearby Suisnish and Boreraig in 1854 were among the most notorious of the Clearances.

I am pretty happy with how this photo turned out. I bought an Olympus Trip 35 off ebay and I've just developed the first roll of film used since. I haven't shot film before and I was a bit unsure what ASA to set it to and stuff. But I've had fun with the first 36 shots and I'm looking forward to taking the next 36.
