Forth Rail Bridge

Forth Rail Bridge, originally uploaded by rg250871.

"For those interested in the technical details...
100 exposures overlaid with 'startrails.exe' (pretty good little free tool). 30 seconds per exposure, ISO 400, F7.1. The exposure time was a compromise between over-exposing the bridge (it ends up looking a bit too red here) and getting enough stars exposed. I think in the depths of winter with a totally clear sky you could get a better balance.

There were clouds skidding over the sky - looks amazing in the camera preview screen when you whiz through all the images quickly! However this has watered down the stars a little. Still, for the Forth, I was surprised at the amount of stars that were visible. Given the amount of exposure time, all the trains and ships are reduced to lines of light."
