Midmar, originally uploaded by mr_phillip.

A great example of one religion usurping another. Midmar church (or kirk as they'd say locally) was built on a site that'd been considered sacred for centuries before Christ was born.

Solitude, originally uploaded by netclectic.

"This was the first huge expanse of beach I came across after getting off the ferry at Lochmaddy on North Uist. I was surprised that this vast swathe of beach was virtually deserted, but after a few days cycling down through the Uists, Barra, Vatersay and Tiree I came to realise this was the norm, miles of beautiful sandy beaches without a soul on them."

Laig Bay

Laig Bay, originally uploaded by jim_moore.

"Just spent a week in the Small Isles off Skye, some parts only really accessible by boat.

Met some fantastic people - and I've been spiritually enlightened by the amazing sights I saw - some of which very few people may get a chance to see.

I'm always amazed at the untapped beauty this small country of ours can throw at us... and the weather was truly amazing.

This is Laig Bay on Eigg looking out towards Rum."
